sneakers for cleats for our first ever Flag Football
Classic. Nearly 100 players and guests
attended the event which took place on
a freezing San Francisco morning. Participants donated 10
canned goods each for charity. In all, we raised over 450 canned
goods!

The men's tournament
did not disappoint as players juked and sprinted their way past
opponents and towards the end zone. Each game came down to
the last second and Team Baskets 4
Hope outlasted the competition to go down as the
champions.

But many agreed
that the women's game was more exciting. Each girl
gave it their all and the game was close all the way to the
end. Thank you to Anthony Guevara and Justin Isip for assisting
with the event. We can't wait to hit the turf again next
year!

Shoes For Hope
Baskets
4 Hope's Shoes For Hope 2008 was a
day no one will soon forget. The event was a joint
effort with UCLA's community service organization PREP
(Pilipino Recruitment & Enrichment Program) and TOMS Shoes.
PREP provides high school students with
resources for getting into college, promotes cultural awareness,
and encouraging students to strive for leadership positions.
TOMS Shoes, a globally recognized nonprofit
organization, seeks to fight the poverty epidemic by
matching every shoe purchased with a pair of shoes to a child in
need.

Shoes For Hope
took place at the Student Activities Center Gym at the historic UCLA
campus. Over 120 local high school and UCLA students attended
the event which spread the word of Baskets 4 Hope, TOMs Shoes, and
PREP.

A big thank you to Nathaniel
Villegas (above right) and the rest of the UCLA PREP staff for
assisting with coordinating and hosting the event. We cannot wait to
build upon this relationship and look forward to future
collaborations!

Hope's Vegas Classic 2008 was a huge success. In
collaboration with Method Entertainment Las Vegas, over 200 people showed up for
an event that none of us will ever forget.
The event took
place at the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas, a fifteen minute drive from the
beautiful Las Vegas strip. Thank you to all the staff and administrators for
all of their support.
The games were
exciting all the way until the end. Team Baskets 4 Hope won their
first two games and went on to defeat Team Method Ent. Las
Vegas in a close championship game. Team Baskets 4
Hope donated the entire $500 cash prize to the
charity of the day, City Mission of Las Vegas.
Professional sound and
lighting were provided by Method Entertainment Daly
City.
Thanks to Glenn Gurion and
the rest of Method Las Vegas for all of
their help. Without them, Vegas Classic 2008 would not have
happened. All the players,
staff, and friends & family wore the official Vegas Classic
2008 polo shirt, designed by WCX Productions
and embroidered by
Coveritallco. Big thanks to Robert
and Ani for helping us throughout the planning process!
In all, we raised
over $500 and 200 canned goods for the City Mission of Las
Vegas charity. We are very proud of what we
accomplished in our first ever Vegas Classic. We cannot wait for
next year!

Winter Hoops Classic
Our 1st Annual
Winter Classic took place in Pacelli Gym in Daly City's
Westlake Center. For most of us, it was home sweet home. But for several
teams, it was a several hour trek to take
part in a day that none of us will ever
forget.
Right when the doors opened, the
energy filled the gym as players from different schools and cities
came together to play basketball and raise canned goods for a local
food pantry.
The staff wore Nike Dri-Fit polos (provided by Nick & Angie from
the San Diego State Equipment Department) freshly
embroidered with the Baskets 4 Hope logo (design and embroidery by
Coveritallco). Photo by JJ Casas | jcasasphotography.com Anthony Guevara, Edwin Abuan,
